Solid Sound Festival

Friday May 27 - Sunday May 29, 2022

Contact Jacob Daneman & Yuri Kwon about Solid Sound Festival

Wilco’s Solid Sound festival takes place May 27th – 29th at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. Today, the festival announces the addition of two performers to an already eclectic music lineup: Kamikaze Palm Tree and Claire Rousay, as well as two comedians to the lineup for John Hodgman’s Comedy Cabaret: Ayo Edebiri and Josh Gondelman. Solid Sound also announces the year’s non-music programming and releases the festival’s daily lineups. Single day tickets go on sale today, Thursday, April 14 at 8AM ET.

In addition to the expansive galleries of MASS MoCA, with long-term installations by James Turrell, Laurie Anderson, Sol LeWitt, Jenny Holzer, and Anselm Kiefer, the festival includes a fully programmed comedy stage hosted by John Hodgman with co-host Jean Grae, naturalist/outdoor activities, a broad variety of family activities, local food, craft beer and cider. More non-music programming includes a presentation of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated podcast Ear Hustle: Flipping the Script on Prison Stories, a Substack Mystery Hour featuring Neko Case, mindfulness workshops, a live display of the photography book Mirror Sound, silkscreen demos, and more.

This year’s musical lineup features Japanese Breakfast, Sylvan Esso, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Sun Ra Arkestra, and much more. As in past festivals, it would not be Solid Sound if it didn’t feature multiple headlining sets from Wilco, alongside band members’ various independent projects. From rock, jazz, indie, and hip hop artists to live falconry, stargazing workshops, and axe-throwing, Solid Sound aims to delight the curious.
