Jaco Jaco — the project of Philadelphia-based musician and visual artist Jacob Theriot — releases the new single/video, “Favorite Kind of People.” It’s the follow up to this summer’s Splat and the first song from a forthcoming project to be released in Spring 2025.

Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Theriot began writing and recording music in grade school with his brother and childhood friend. The musical relationship eventually became the band Sports. After three albums and international tours with Sports, Jaco decided to forgo the band to pursue his own solo career in music, allowing him to uproot from Oklahoma and move to Philadelphia to explore and meld a variety of different genres and visual mediums.

Reflecting on today’s single, Jaco says, “‘Favorite Kind of People’ came out of a phase where I was into some classic Brazilian jazz-funk. I can’t remember which song it was exactly, but I translated the lyrics and loved how simple and earnest they felt. The translation was probably off, but it inspired me to write something direct and real—about just being present with people and not overthinking everything.”
