Today, Mac’s Record Label announces the signing of Canada’s new diesel powered four-piece, Mock Media, and releases the band’s new single “Hooked.” Additionally, Mac’s Record Label will re-release the band’s debut album, Mock Media II, in North and South America on December 6th. According to the band, “MRL and Mock Media is a unity of Canadian men saving rock n roll,” and “Hooked” is a prime example. Raucous and powerful, the Creed inspired  track is a thumping, arachnid rock number, beginning with plucked verses setting desperate tones, followed by a pounding blast beat and a final chorus that leaves you hooked.

On Mock Media’s signing, Mac DeMarco says:

“The great white north has once again left a gift upon the stoop of the door to my life.

And of what gift might I speak, you say?

Aye, listen closely, I beckon you, and I will elucidate.

Strength, honor, maple. From sea to shining sea.

Sprung up from the soils of Vernon, like a patmore elm, I give to you, “Mock Media”

Mock Media originates in Vernon, British Columbia, naturally sparking a heady wanderlust and DIY-spirit within its founding members – Austin Boylan (Pottery, guitar, vocals), Ben Smith (NOV3L, drums), Garnet Aronyk (Crack Cloud, bass, keys), and Evan Aasen (Painted Fruit, guitar, mixing, mastering). Inspired by the Canadian wilderness and tradesmen of the past, the band strives to channel the ancestral aspects of human ceremony, while attempting to chart on Billboard Hot 100. Fully committed to creating rhythmic jungle punk, The music intertwines wooden acoustic plucking, pop harmony and electronic pulsating hardstyle.

Originally released via Meat Machine records, Mock Media II captures the band’s head-on plunge into enthralling existential contradictions: songs that explore the darkest corners of humanity, yet come out at the other end with the unwavering joy that marked their genesis. It’s an album of sneaky eclecticism: the high-wired punk rock stylings serve as Mock Media’s framework to clad their agog explorations into pop, electronic and world folk music.
